Protecting our state’s natural environment is a priority for California’s beverage companies.

Leading the way on sustainable solutions has long been at the core of our business. We are constantly striving to increase recycling and reuse rates and to enhance the sustainability of our packaging and business practices. Read on and check out innovationnaturally.org to learn more.

Plastic & Packaging

California’s beverage industry strives to produce packaging materials in the most efficient way possible. We are carefully designing our plastic bottles to be 100% recyclable – even the caps. We are making bottles that are fully recyclable because our goal is for every bottle to become a new bottle, so that we’re using less new plastic. We observe these same principles for not only our bottles but also for the packaging we use to protect, transport and display our beverages. We’ve saved hundreds of millions of pounds of raw materials industry-wide through lightweighting and packaging reduction.

Recycling

The beverage industry’s bottles and cans are among the most recycled consumer packaging in the world. Today, beverage companies are producing 100% recyclable aluminum, plastic and glass beverage containers – even the plastic caps can be recycled. And we’re supporting consumers and communities across California in their efforts to improve recycling. There’s more to be done, and we are working with lawmakers and environmental groups to do so.

Fast Fact: Beverage companies have donated more than 1 million recycling bins to more than 1,000 communities in the USA.

Conserving Water

California’s beverage companies know that every drop of water counts, and we’ve invested heavily over the years to improve our water conservation. We reduced our water use by 14% per unit over five years and we’re far from done. We’re working to develop the best water saving technologies on the planet and are on pace to improve our water conservation rate by double digits over the next decade.
